Mainline Locomotive Fueling Facility - Hauser, ID

This mainline, four-track fueling facility supplies fuel, compressor oil, lube oil, journal oil, water, and traction sand to six-locomotive consists.

The project included:

  • Multiple supply pumps
  • Transfer pumps
  • Dispensing pumps
  • Piping
  • Fuel filter vessels
  • Storage tanks
  • Fueling arms
  • Boom cabinets
  • Miscellaneous equipment necessary for locomotive servicing

Specialized mechanical and electrical designs included:

  • Double wall, direct-buried transfer piping
  • Tank farm with AFFF Fire Protection piping
  • Zone 3 seismic region design compliance
  • Fueling platform building provided to house the heated day tanks, boiler, and circulating pumps for the lube oil, compressor oil, and journal oil dispensing systems
  • Pneumatic conveying systems used to move sand from the 3,500-cubic-foot bulk silo to the transporters
  • Fueling system controls integrated into a PLC controller
  • Multiple generators for the 24/7 facility standby power system
